What does former Deputy Chief of Staff for Policy Karl Rove have in common with little old me? We will both be starting new jobs next week!
While Karl’s new job is considered a demotion, my new job is more of a step up to the next level. I’ll be the Senior Web Developer for an internet startup, spearheading the development of a promising web-based service. I’m not at liberty to disclose any details about who/what this is all about, at least until the idea is off the ground and running several months down the road.
I am very excited about this, and am looking forward to getting started. I would have announced this sooner, but I wanted to wait until the details were worked out.
Uh Oh.

Want to know how much money your neighbors contributed to which political party and/or candidate?
Just enter your address at the Fundrace Block Party web site and click Search.
This is public information, but it’s kinda scary to see how much they publish about you, including your occupation.

Supporters of President Bush are less knowledgeable about the president’s foreign policy positions and are more likely to be mistaken about factual issues in world affairs than voters who back John F. Kerry, a survey released yesterday indicated.

Voting

Some extremely important voting information passed through my Inbox today. I checked out the validity of this, and it is true.
If you vote a straight ticket in North Carolina or South Carolina, your vote for President and any judges will not be counted. This seems absurd, and people are trying to lobby the respective boards of election in each state to get it fixed. NC and SC are the only states that are this way, for whatever reason.
There is more information on how to make sure your vote gets counted, whoever you vote for, at Tony Spencer’s site.
In short, choose your presidential candidate first, then choose Straight Ticket, then select your judges.
Bumper Sticker Idea

Here is a good idea for a bumper sticker I saw today:
“IT WILL BE A GREAT DAY WHEN SCHOOLS HAVE ALL THE MONEY THEY NEED AND THE MILITARY HAS TO HOLD A BAKE SALE TO BUY A BOMBER. WELL, MAYBE “GREAT” IS TOO STRONG A WORD. “IRONIC” WORKS BETTER. HEY, MAYBE WE SHOULD ADEQUATELY FUND BOTH, AS DEFENSE AND EDUCATION ARE LEGITIMATE PRIORITIES. WE COULD GET THE MONEY BY REVERSING THE RECENT TAX CUTS THAT LARGELY WENT TO THE RICHEST 1% OF THE POPULATION, FOR A START.”
