Oh, the things you find stashed away in your friends’ Facebook profiles. Thanks, Cassie, for reminding everyone of my dorkitude!
It looks like I just threw a big straight razor.
For a while I have enjoyed using my Olympus C-5050 digital camera, but ever since Alicia dropped it and we had to get it repaired it just hasn’t been the same. It takes a good 10-15 seconds to set up a shot, take it, and be ready for the next one. It still takes excellent pictures, but the lens mechanics never quite returned to normal.
I decided to sell that camera (wanna buy a camera?) and replace it with something simpler, smaller, and more transportable, so I went and got a Canon Powershot A530, which had just been knocked down to $149 at Best Buy.
What a camera! So far it has been perfect inside, outside, and at night. It’s small, it uses SD cards, which I already had, and it runs on AA batteries. I am in love with how well it fits what I was looking for: cheap, portable, fast, and excellent picture quality.
Anyway, I posted up a bunch of new pictures in my gallery, and the first 17 shots are with the new camera. Check out the new Sep/Oct 2006 pics.
Now that the site has launched I’ve had a little time this weekend to sit down and catch up on some things. One of those things includes this blog!
A few of you might be interested in the new gallery of pictures I posted. Some of these are from our trip to Louisville a few weekends ago. You’ll see Gray having a ball at Bowman Field thanks to my old pal Jeremy.
The rest of the pics are just random adventures with the boys. I am seriously considering selling my Olympus C5050 in favor of something more compact that will slip into my pocket. I think I’d end up taking a lot more pictures this way.
So yeah…that’s that for now. Enjoy.
So I have neglected this site lately, mainly because I have been putting all of my attention into work. When I do have free time to mess around, I have been updating TheBestOfYoutube.com, which is starting to really take off. One of my other project sites, Dumpworthy.com, got its first review published by someone other than myself today, which is exciting. I am still seeking help in writing/submitting to these sites if anyone is interested.
In other news, I have added a new gallery to the photo gallery part of this site, with pictures from June and July 2006. Check it out.
I just added an April 2006 section to Ye Olde Photo Gallery. Get yer fix on. Some of the pictures are old and from my cell phone, which I tend to forget about downloading to my PC. Some are from Easter weekend in Columbia, some are from An Event Apart in Atlanta, and some are from our trip out to Brevard today. We went to see our friends Jenni and Jay and their daughter Lilah. Our friends Dave and Celeste were there with their son Frank too.
After looking at these, I realize I need to take more pictures of Dax. It’s kinda easy to forget about him because all he does is sit there.
I just added the pictures from February to the Ye Olde Photo Gallery. I still have one hour and 12 minutes left before March starts. How you like them timely apples?
I figured I better go ahead and get them up there as I am about to get slammed with a bunch of side projects. That is a good thing though. They all seem to come at once, and really haven’t let up much since October or so.
At my day job I finally got Apache 2 talking to Tomcat via the mod_jk connector. It has been a problem that has had me befuddled for the last couple of weeks. Turned out to be not anywhere near as simplistic as it was in the Apache class I attended a few weeks ago. I found it odd that not until I was a week into this did I learn that mod_jk2 is depricated, and that mod_jk is what I should have been dealing with all along. Seems like they would have mentioned that in the class. The silver lining in the cloud is that I am now much more familiar and confident with both Apache and Tomcat now.
